LANCASTER TWP — A fatal accident at around 1:30 p.m. Thursday stopped traffic on Route 19 in the township for several hours as emergency responders cleared the scene and investigated the incident.

Butler County deputy coroner Larry Barr confirmed that a New Castle man on a motorcycle was struck by a car from behind and died as a result of the crash.

Police closed Route 19 from West Lancaster Road to Pfeifer Road during the investigation.
