Zelie police chief, officers accused of misconduct
ZELIENOPLE — Borough Police Chief Jim Miller and two other borough officers were accused of verbal misconduct Monday evening.
Local resident Lisa Brown said on April 9, she was accused of being on drugs by two unnamed borough police officers after pulling into her residence on North Main Street.
She said one of the officers used profane language and accused her of being on drugs and that she was given a sobriety test.
She tested negative for alcohol and was not arrested.
Brown soon afterward submitted a formal complaint to the police department.
However she said when she attempted to give Miller the complaint, Miller responded in “a completely unprofessional, unwarranted and downright abusive behavior.”
The two officers' actions will be investigated by Miller himself. Miller's actions will be investigated by mayor Tom Oliverio per protocol.
Brown submitted a formal complaint to Oliverio about the latter incident at Monday's borough council meeting.
Oliverio said the investigation could take about a month.
Miller would not comment on the two incidents.
