Norene M. McCandless, 78, of Butler passed away Sunday at Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia, surrounded by her loving family.

Norene was born Feb. 26, 1940, in Butler and was the daughter of the late Dwight and Carolyn Kissinger Weitzel. She was a homemaker, baby sitter and also had several jobs outside the home during her lifetime at Kmart, Sheetz, 7 -Eleven, Adams Manufacturing, USPS Bulk Mail Center and Penn United.

She enjoyed riding motorcycles, reading, crocheting, toothbrush rugs and Swedish weaving.

She liked bingo and playing games on her tablet and was an avid NASCAR and Dallas Cowboy fan.

She was a collector of Snow Snickles.

Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Darrell, whom she married Nov. 30, 1955; daughters, Kimberly (Dennis) Stokes, Krisanne (Ken) Whipkey, Kelly (Don) Ragan, Karla (Bob) Capello, Kathy (Alan) McKee; sons, Kevin (Jill) McCandless and Keith (Samantha) McCandless; grandchildren, Jason, Kasey, Kari, Kayla, Jared, Brian, Nathan, Noelle and Matthew; 13 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Marilyn and Susan.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Kendra; a grandson, Corey, two infant great-granddaughters, Hope and Kendall; sisters Carolyn and Cheryl; and a brother, Dwight.

Per her wishes, there will be no public visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Thomas M. Smith Funeral Home and Crematory of Blawnox.
