2-car accident sends 1 to hospital
MUDDYCREEK TWP — An accident involving a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer on Route 422 sent one person to the hospital.
State police and Portersville-Muddycreek firefighters were dispatched to the scene of the crash at 2:02 p.m. on Route 422 near Keystone Spring Services.
After colliding with a tractor trailer carrying a tank, the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for minor injuries, according to firefighters.
Firefighter Tyler Hinkle said the pickup's driver was conscious and alert before leaving the scene.
Hinkle said the driver of the tractor trailer was not injured and drove the rig into the nearby business's parking lot while state police investigated and waited for a tow for the pickup.
“It looks like he has a busted rim, but other than that it's drivable,” said Hinkle of the tractor trailer.
While still early in their investigation, state police said the pickup passed the tractor trailer and slowed down, and the rig struck the Silverado's rear, sending it into a nearby guard rail.
The Silverado appeared to have heavy front-end damage.
Traffic was reduced to one lane only around the pickup truck, which remained smashed into the guard rail until tow crews arrived around 3:10 p.m.
