SRU, BC3 close due to extreme cold
The county's two institutions of higher learning say education can wait.
Slippery Rock University and Butler County Community College both announced closings because of the arctic temperatures gripping the region this week.
SRU will remain closed until Friday, according to a press release.
The essential services remaining open are the residence halls, dining facilities, health services, switchboard, university help desk and the university police.
Of the campus dining facilities, only Boozel and Boozel Express; Watson, Flatz Express; and Craft @Weisenfluh will be open. All but the Campus Drive Grille will reopen on Friday.
Butler County Community College announced that all campuses and sites would be closed on Wednesday.
