Crash injures driver, closes portion of road
BUTLER TWP — One driver was not injured and another had minor injuries in a head-on collision Sunday afternoon on North Eberhart Road in the township, authorities said.
The wreck just north of Route 68 closed a portion of the road for about 45 minutes.
Lisa Marie Heller, 55, of Butler, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with apparent minor chest and shoulder injuries, Butler Township police said.
Heller was driving south on North Eberhart Road in a Toyota Camry around 4:05 p.m., police said, when a northbound Honda CR-V driven by Michael Hutt, 41, of Butler, drifted into the oncoming lane, causing the crash.
A Butler Ambulance Service crew tended to Heller before she was transported to the hospital. Her condition was not available. Hutt was not injured.
Both vehicles sustained heavy front-end damage. The wreck closed the road between Route 68 and Moraine Pointe Plaza until wreckers could haul away both vehicles.
The road reopened just after 4:45 p.m.
The Butler Township Volunteer Fire District assisted at the scene.
Police cited Hutt for careless driving.
