Margaret A. File Matijak

Margaret A. File Matijak, 87, of Petrolia passed away Thursday at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Butler.

Margaret was born in Fairview on May 12, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Frederick and Edna Jordan Rankin.

She was a graduate of Fairview Township Karns City High School.

Margaret was a homemaker and in her earlier years, she had worked at her parents' restaurant in Petrolia.

She had attended the Bruin United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed visiting flea markets and yard sales and playing bingo. She especially enjoyed the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Margaret was first married to William C. File in 1949. Mr. File preceded her in death in 1970. She later married Stephen Matijak, who also preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sons, Richard A. File and his wife, Melissa, of Bruin and Jeffrey P. File and his wife, Patty, of East Brady; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and three brothers, David Rankin and his wife, Louise, of Hooker, Gene Rankin of Ohio and Sheldon Rankin of Bruin; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, David G. File, and three brothers.

MATIJAK — A private graveside service for Margaret A. File Matijak, who died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, will be held at Bear Creek Cemetery in Petrolia.Arrangements are under the direction of the Hile Funeral Home of Karns City.Condolences may be sent by visiting www.hilefh.com.
