Participants tackle obstacles in Tuff Tornado

The third Tuff Tornado Run returned to Butler's Alameda Park Saturday after a one-year absence.

The third Tuff Tornado Run returned to Butler's Alameda Park Saturday after a one-year absence - and came off as if it never left.

The two-mile course featured 20 obstacles and 488 participants. The event had 300 runners in 2019. It was not held last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tuff Tornado Run chairperson Audray Muscatello Yost said $15,000 was raised for the Golden Tornado Scholastic Foundation through this event in 2019 and anticipates $20,000 this time.

Saturday's participants ranged from young children to older adults. A number of families completed the course.

Proceeds from the Tuff Tornado Run benefit creative teacher grants, the kids weekend backpack program and technology in the schools, through the Foundation.
