OIL CITY — Police and a Venango County coroner are investigating a body found in the Allegheny River here.

Venango County 911 dispatchers say the body was found about 7 a.m. Tuesday in Oil City.

The Oil City police are not immediately releasing information on the body and county Coroner Tyler Best has not immediately returned a call for comment.

Authorities have not said whether the body is that of a man or a woman or whether foul play is suspected in the death.
