Harmony council looking at ways to deal with potential spring flooding
HARMONY — Borough council on Tuesday discussed potential flooding that the spring will bring.
Councilman Don Sims gave a rough outline of different options to prevent water buildup in the borough.
One proposal is to create a pump system to keep water that would often flood the town moving, so it wouldn’t be able to settle and back up. This relatively non-invasive plan would utilize valves, and would not involve “tearing up” the town.
The second option is to add piping to get the water to flow out of Harmony and into a creek, but this would involve removing portions of Main Street while putting the system in place.
The proposals were expected to cost around $30,000, which could vary based on the materials chosen.
