An Allegheny County man is accused of threatening to send naked pictures of a Butler County woman to her family and co-workers if she didn't send him money.

Penn Township police charged David A. Thimons, 50, of Tarentum last week with misdemeanor counts of threatening to distribute sexually explicit materials, attempted theft by extortion and harassment.

The woman told authorities that she sent Thimons three nude pictures of herself on April 15. She recounted how the defendant started sending her text messages about the pictures a few days later.

In those messages, according to charging documents, he allegedly threatened to send the pictures to her family members and co-workers and post them on social media sites. The victim forwarded authorities screenshots of the texts between her and Thimons.

Thimons allegedly told her in one text, “Sorry, I'm not playing around, you have until tomorrow. If you don't, it's going viral.”

According to police, another text reads: “I'm assuming you're going to the bank. I'm not playing ...”

In yet another text, according to the court documents, Thimons allegedly sent the woman an emoji of a bag of money.

Police contacted the defendant by telephone April 18. He denied there was a problem between him and the victim.

When the officer inquired if he was attempting to extort money from the woman, Thimons told the investigator that “It's not a crime,” according to court documents. Police advised him that theft by extortion was a crime. But he allegedly told them, “There ain't nothing you can do about it,” and eventually hung up the phone.
