Officials quickly find teen who cut off monitoring device
BUTLER TWP — A teenager who an away from his Lyndora home Tuesday night was caught this morning not too far away.
Township police caught 15-year-old Dillon Wheeler about 10:30 a.m. at an apartment on Hansen Avenue. Chief John Hays said he is not sure what Wheeler’s relationship is to the people in the apartment.
Wheeler ran away at 8 p.m. after removing the juvenile court-ordered monitoring bracelet. He fled after an argument with his father.
His parents notified authorities after they found their son gone and his discarded home monitoring device.
Hays said Wheeler was on probation, but he said he was not sure why.
Hays also said he is not sure exactly what the teen will be charged with now that he is caught. Because he removed his monitoring device, Hays said Wheeler most likely will be sent to a juvenile facility to await a court appearance.
