Beaver Falls man charged in bank heist
CRANBERRY TWP — Police charged Michael R. Neppach, 40, in connection with the Wednesday robbery of PNC Bank on Route 19 near the intersection of North Boundary Road.
Neppach is charged with robbery — threat of immediate serious injury, a first-degree felony, and theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property, both first-degree misdemeanors.
Cranberry police said they apprehended Neppach on Friday night in Beaver Falls, where he lives. He was arraigned later that night before District Judge William O'Donnell in Slippery Rock.
According to the FBI, Neppach entered the bank around 4:48 p.m., walked up and handed the teller a note. The note read that Neppach had a gun and demanded money, according to law enforcement.
Police suspected after the robbery Neppach fled the bank on foot in the direction of North Boundary Road.
Neppach is being held in Butler County Prison in lieu of $250,000 bond. Court documents do not indicate if Neppach has an attorney.
