BUTLER TWP — The Butler School Board Wednesday night voted to hire Brian White as its next superintendent.

White has been the superintendent of Chartiers Valley School District since 2010.

He was formerly a teacher at Brashear High School in Pittsburgh and he also worked as an assistant superintendent in the Beaver School District.

The board approved a five-year contract with White. He is set to take over for acting superintendent William Pettigrew next month. Pettigrew has been on the job since February when Dr. Dale Lumley submitted his resignation with the intention to retire.
