Tax rate unchanged in Saxonburg for 2020
SAXONBURG — The millage rate will hold steady for at least the fifth year in the borough.
Council members voted unanimously at their Tuesday night meeting to approve an $819,500 budget for 2020 with no tax increase.
Sherry Weinzierl, council president, was pleased with the 2020 budget.
“I'm happy to hold the line on taxes and continue to serve the residents,” Weinzierl said.
Saxonburg property owners pay 20.66 mills in taxes. A mill brings in $12,000 in Saxonburg.
The budget is up from the current expenditures of $765,500 due to the $55,582 parks and recreation budget being added to the borough budget for next year.
Mary Papik, borough manager, said the all-volunteer Saxonburg Historical Restoration Commission was dissolved in the summer because of a lack of volunteers.
The borough then assumed responsibility for the historical buildings and park budget.
Because of the change, the park budget is now included in the borough budget.
