Freeport teachers have new contract
BUFFALO TWP — Teachers in the Freeport School District have a new contract.
Both the teachers and the school board on Wednesday approved a new five-year contract.
The new contract calls for an overall 4.6 percent pay increase for about 140 teachers in the district during the term of the contract.
The starting salary for a new teacher will be $36,000 for the 2010-11 school year, and the average teacher pay will be $42,841 for the first year of the contract.
The current contract ends Aug. 22.
