Woman accused of hitting man with stuffed animal

Carolyn Sholosh
Gash allegedly caused by plastic base

CRANBERRY TWP — Police weren't toying with a woman when they arrested her early Friday for allegedly assaulting her husband — with a teddy bear.

Carolyn Sholosh, 39, is accused of hitting the victim over the head with the stuffed toy, which reportedly had a “hard plastic base,” during a domestic dispute about 2:20 a.m. at their home, township police said.

When police got to the house on Oakview Drive, they found the victim with a bloody gash on the back of his head. He also had a scratch on his right arm.

He told officers that the defendant hit him over the head with a teddy bear, police said.

Sholosh admitted that she brandished the bear and struck her husband with it after an argument “about putting her daughter into a dance class,” according to charging documents.

District Judge Lewis Stoughton arraigned Sholosh on a misdemeanor charge of simple assault and a summary charge of harassment. She was later released on nonmonetary bond with the condition that she have no physical contact with the victim.

Sholosh was not immediately available for comment later Friday following her arraignment.
