A Buffalo Township man is facing charges after he allegedly groped a woman walking on a Butler street Monday morning.

Butler police arrested Kristofer Hura, 26, on a misdemeanor charge of indecent assault and two summary counts of harassment.

Hura was charged after the 25-year-old victim, who the Butler Eagle is not identifying due to the nature of the offense, reported that a man whom she did not know slapped and grabbed her buttocks on North Jackson Street.

She told police that she was walking to her job in downtown Butler and talking on the phone when the man stopped his sport utility vehicle near her and said something she did not hear, according to charging documents.

The woman recounted that as she continued to walk down the street, she heard footsteps following her. Then, she felt someone slap and grab her from behind.

When she turned around, she saw the same man run to his SUV and drive off.

Police used security cameras to track down Hura’s unoccupied SUV on North Church Street. Officers were waiting there when he appeared, and he was arrested.

District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned Hura on the charges, and also cited him for driving with a suspended license. He is free on $10,000 bail while awaiting his preliminary hearing Aug. 26.

Hura has been arrested before. On June 25, state police arrested him in Harrison Township, Allegheny County, during a traffic stop. He is charged in that case with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, a felony, among several other charges.

His preliminary hearing in that case is set Aug. 21.
