Lanie Adamson
Lanie Mergel Adamson of San Luis Obispo, Calif., passed away on Friday, Dec. 17, 2021, in the comfort of her home.
She was born on March 20, 1942, and was the daughter of John and Helen Mergel.
After graduating from Butler High School, she attended Penn State University. She went on to complete her master’s degree in health care administration of California State University in Long Beach, Calif.
She was a manager with Global Scientific Communications, manager at Abbott Medical Optics, and manager of medical research communications with Allergan. She was also a self-employed medical writer, ghost writer and published author. She enjoyed international travel and lived an extended period of time in the Netherlands.
She was a member of American Medical Writer Association and was awarded the 2013 Golden Apple Award from the AMWA.
After recovering from a debilitating stroke in 1997, she joined Toastmasters International becoming a motivational speaker and was featured on TV and radio.
She was a member of Mount of Olives Lutheran Church in Mission Viego, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Olev Adamson; and her parents.
She is survived by two sisters and one brother, Barbara (Paul) Goble, Patricia (Jon-Jack) Lewis and John Mergel.
She is also survived by four children, Merk (Page) Black, Eileen (Dean) Seltzer, Judith (Richard) Turner and Ellen (Alec) Adamson-Goodwin; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A service for was held Friday, Dec. 31, 2021.
