Thomas R. “Tom” Sanderson, 76, of West Sunbury passed away Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021, at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Tom was born March 1, 1945, in Butler. He was the son of the late Raymond T. Sanderson and the late Bernice E. Boozel Sanderson.

Tom served in the United Sates Army during the Vietnam era. He had been employed at Pullman Standard as a welder until its closing, and he retired as a truck driver for John Brown Trucking in Portersville. Tom was a member of the Rodfathers and the Butler Street Machine.Tom is survived by four sons, Thomas R. Sanderson Jr., and his wife, Kari, of Butler, Earl Sanderson of Butler, Ronald Sanderson, and his wife, Micki, of West Sunbury, and William J. “Bill” Sanderson of West Sunbury; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Jane Dancik, of Butler.Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Sanderson, who passed away Jan. 13, 2004.Sanderson — The family of Thomas R. “Tom” Sanderson, who died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021, will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main St., West Sunbury. Funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. at the funeral home with Tom's cousin, Bob Tirk, officiating.Burial will be in the West Sunbury Union Cemetery.
