Snow and sub-freezing temperatures. Hey, it’s called winter.

Butler County overnight received a little more than a coating of snow — enough to keep morning commuters on their toes. The temperature at 7 a.m. was 22.

Luckily, according to a county dispatcher, there were no accidents of note to report just before day break.

All county schools are operating as normal.

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh is predicting occasional snow flurries for today but the daytime accumulation will be less than a half inch with a high near 24 and northwest winds between 15 and 17 mph. Gusts could reach 29 mph.

Tonight there is a slight chance of snow showers before 1 a.m. Friday with a low around 19.

A nice day is forecast for Friday with partly sunny skies and a high near 28 with winds of  6 to 8 mph.
