Anthony Onufer

Anthony Onufer, 90, of Renfrew, passed away Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021, at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born July 30, 1930, in Lyndora, he was a son of the late Thomas and Rosalia (Nezoylk) Onufer.

He was a 1949 graduate of Butler High School.

Anthony retired from Armco Steel in 1990, following 31 years of service in the Plant 2 maintenance department.

He was a member of St. Michael Greek Catholic Church in Lyndora.

He was also a member of the American Legion Post 778. He was a former Boy Scout leader for the Connoquenessing Troop. He enjoyed woodworking and refinishing furniture and stained glass art.

Anthony was a former antique dealer in Butler.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.Surviving are his daughter, Pamela Mensch of Fairfax Station, Va.; his brother-in-law, George (Shirley) Rock of Butler; his very close acquaintances, Lewis and Terri Angerett of Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to Anthony's parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Rock) Onufer, whom he married Jan. 8, 1952; four brothers; four sisters; and his son-in-law, Timothy Mensch.ONUFER — There will be no public visitation for Anthony Onufer, who died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021.The funeral liturgy will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael Greek Catholic Church, 610 Hansen Ave., Lyndora. The Rev. Doug Lorance will officiate.Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Butler.Arrangements are under the direction of Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E.
