Air Force Cadet Scott King has graduated from the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., with a bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, and was commissioned as a second lieutenant.

The officer is scheduled to attend undergraduate pilot training at Columbus Air Force Base, Columbus, Miss.

He is the son of Vincent King of Cowansville R.R. 1 and brother of Carol Hutchison of Petrolia.

He is a 2000 graduate of Karns City High School.

Marine Corps Cpl. Kevin J. Boyd , son of Phillip W. Boyd of Gibsonia, assigned to the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, recently deployed with the Belleau Wood Expeditionary Strike Group to the Western Pacific and Central Command area of responsibility in support of the global war on terrorism.Boyd's unit is an expeditionary intervention force with the ability to rapidly organize for combat operations in virtually any environment.Boyd is a 2001 graduate of Hampton High School and joined the Marine Corps in June 2001.

Marine Pvt. Mitch Plunkard, son of Alma and David Plunkard of Butler, has completed basic training at Parris Island, S.C. While in basic, he qualifed as expert with the M16A2 rifle and earned a first class on the physical fitness test.He will receive advanced training as a combat engineer.

James H Bowser, son of James Bowser and Diana Foster of Cowansville, entered the Air Force's delayed entry program for on Dec. 30, 2003, and shipped to basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, on July 13.Bowser is a 2004 graduate of Lenape Vo-Tech School.

Navy Hospitalman Kelly McKain, daughter of Terence McKain of Butler, is a hospital corpsman assigned to the post-partum ward at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Va., where she cares for new mothers and their babies.She is a 2002 alumna of Knoch High School.
