William Bajcz Jr., son of William and Ascension Bajcz of Lyndora, was promoted to the rank of Army major at Fort Leavenworth, Kan.

He is an Army simulation operations officer at the National Simulation Center, supporting corps through brigade simulation training exercises.

Bajcz is a 1984 graduate of Butler High School. He graduated from Slippery Rock University in 1989 and was commissioned a second lieutenant from their ROTC program.

Luke Berkopec, son of Robert Berkopec and Beth McElhinny of Evans City, entered the Air Force's delayed entry program on Jan. 15 and was shipped to basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, on July 20.

Berkopec is a 2001 graduate of Pine-Richland High School.

has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

The 1998 graduate of Butler High School is the son of Debra Brannon of Butler.
