Senior Chief

Jeffery Peeples retired from the Navy on Feb. 1 after 24 years.A 1981 graduate of Riverside High School, he entered the service in September 1981; and after graduating from basic training, he was assigned to NNTC Millington, Tenn., for training as an aviation machinist mate. He then was assigned to naval weapons center, China Lake, Calif., as a test and evaluation member of the F/A-18 aircraft.In September 1985, he transferred to Cecil Field, Jacksonville, Fla., and deployed aboard the USS Coral Sea in October 1987. In May 1989, he was assigned to the Naval Air Engineering Center, Lakehurst, N.J. His next assignment was in Rota, Spain, with the aircraft intermediate maintenance department.In January 1993, he returned to Cecil Field, where he deployed on the USS Eisenhower in October 1994 and then on the USS Theodore Roosevelt in October 1996.In May 1998, he was assigned to NAS Patuxent River, Md., where he deployed to Nordholtz, Germany, the Ascension Islands and Kaneoe Bay, Hawaii. He was assigned to NAS Oceana, Va., in December 2002. He deployed with the wildcats of VFA-131 aboard the USS George Washington in January 2004 to serve in the Persian Gulf in support to troops in Iraq.He and his wife, Jennifer, have three sons and are making their home in Dameron, Md. He is the son of David and Lois Peeples of Fombell.---Navy Seaman Apprentice

Brett Stivason, son of Karl Stivason of Chicora, recently graduated from the equipment operator course at the Center for Seabees and Facilities Engineering Detachment, Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.Stivason is a 2003 graduate of Karns City High School.---Navy Seaman Recruit

Gregory T. Johnson, grandson of Thomas and Erma Johnson of Butler, recently completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.Johnson is a 1997 graduate of Butler High School.---Army Pvt.

Chris Uhl has graduated from the Water Treatment Specialist Advanced Individual Training course at Fort Lee, Petersburg, Va.He is the son of Albert C. Uhl of Boyers, and Susan Boarts of Kittanning.The private is a 1996 graduate of Mooresville High School.
