Man jailed on assault charges

Police: Woman's jaw fractured

CENTER TWP — A Butler County man is jailed on felony and other charges after he allegedly fractured his girlfriend’s jaw during a weekend attack at a home where she was baby-sitting, state police said.

Michael L. Miano, 24, of Clay Township is accused of kicking Shannon E. Gizienski in the face with a steel-toed boot, knocking her unconscious, according to court documents.

Police spoke to Gizienski at Butler Memorial Hospital where she was treated for injuries following the altercation about 9:45 p.m. Saturday.

She told investigators that she was baby-sitting at a home in the 500 block of Oneida Valley Road when Miano, her boyfriend, showed up, angry at her. He threatened to slash the tires of her car if she didn’t come outside and talk to him.

She came out briefly but returned to the house after seeing Miano was intoxicated, documents said. However, Miano followed her inside, which allowed the homeowner’s dog to escape.

Gizienski said when she left the house to get the dog, the suspect grabbed and punched her. Moments later, he knocked her down and kicked her in the face, documents said.

The homeowner told troopers that she returned to her house in time to witness the alleged attack. She corroborated Gizienski’s account, police said, and took Gizienski to the hospital

Gizienski’s treating physician later told police that the woman suffered a broken jaw from the attack.

Police on Sunday arrested Miano. District Judge Lewis Stoughton that evening arraigned him on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, disorderly conduct, harassment and public drunkenness.

He is in the Butler County Prison on $30,000 bail while awaiting a preliminary hearing June 10 at Stoughton’s office in Chicora.
