2:08 p.m. Sept. 3 — Steven R. Riggle, 59, of Butler was allegedly more than three times the state's legal limit for alcohol after police pulled him over driving on the 300 block of North Main Street.Riggle was arrested and taken to the station for a breath test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.260 percent, according to court documents. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated. Riggle was arraigned on charges of DUI and driving with a suspended license-DUI related, and later released on $5,000 unsecured bail.9:15 a.m. Aug. 27 — Christian L. Lucas, 30, of Natrona Heights, Allegheny County, was arrested on charges stemming from a domestic dispute that apparently started at a home on Kaufman Drive.Lucas and a woman got into an argument at the home before they drove to the Dunkin' Donuts on North Main Street. During the drive, according to court documents, the argument “became physical.” At the store's parking lot, Lucas allegedly threw the victim into a parked car, which damaged the vehicle. The victim suffered abrasions to her right forearm and a cut on the inner lip.When another woman stepped in and told Lucas that she was going to call police, documents said, the defendant “got in her face” and threatened to hit her. He subsequently fled.Police later contacted Lucas by phone, and he denied any physical altercation during the incident.He was eventually arrested and arraigned on charges of simple assault, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief. He was released on his own recognizance following arraignment.
Aug. 26 — Joshua J. Wiolland, 37, of Mars was charged with bouncing a $919 check for auto repair work at a Route 8 business in July. He passed the check July 22 at Route 8 Auto Service. On Aug. 22, the business owner sent the defendant a certified letter requesting payment, but he got no response, according to court documents. Wiolland is charged with theft of services and bad checks.
10:46 p.m. Aug. 18 — Tracy L. Frey, 49, of Bakerstown, Allegheny County, was arrested for drunken driving after police were called for a car with a front tire smoking on the 700 block of Route 8. Police said they found Frey, barefoot, standing by the driver's side door of the car.Police later learned that the defendant had been driving her car with the left front wheel on its rim before stopping. Another motorist told police that he noticed “sparks, smoke and fire” coming from the wheel, and he honked his horn to try to get Frey to pull over.She eventually stopped and admitted that she did not know she was missing a tire. During the stop, an officer allegedly noticed an open bottle of vodka in the car.Police eventually took Frey to the Butler City Police Department for a breath test, which she refused, documents said. She is charged with driving under the influence, driving with an open container of alcohol and driving an unregistered vehicle.
10:50 a.m. Saturday — Donald Montgomery, 33, of Parker was arrested after a traffic stop by state police. According to the report, Montgomery was driving a green Ford F-150 with an expired inspection sticker, prompting the stop at the intersection of Park and Parker Street in Bruin, but when the troopers approached the vehicle, they smelled marijuana.Troopers searched the truck and found a “THC Dab Kit.” Charges have not yet been filed, according to an online search of court dockets.6:55 p.m. Sept. 6 — State police were called to the scene of a smashed circuit board at 398 Moran Road, Clearfield Township. According to the report, Troopers believe a vehicle struck the circuit board, damaging it and the post that goes underground.The circuit board belonged to CenturyLink, which had been notified.The driver and vehicle have not been located, but the property owner believes the crash happened between Sept. 1 and 2.2:30 p.m. Sept. 6 — State police responded to an act of vandalism.According to the report, troopers found “WLM” written in orange spray paint on the roadway near the intersection of Stark Road and Hidden Hill Road in Clinton Township.Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.9:49 p.m. Aug. 23 — Troy W. Hammerbeck, 41, of Forward Township was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a woman during a domestic dispute in the area of Valencia and Brownsdale roads in Penn Township.The victim told police that she and Hammerbeck were driving back home from the Gibsonia area when he stopped and told her to get out of the vehicle.“When she attempted to exit,” documents said, “Hammerbeck sped the vehicle and did not let her out. This happened multiple times.”She subsequently fell from the vehicle while attempting to get out which was moving slowly. She suffered a bruise on the back of her head and scrapes on her back, police said.Hammerbeck was arraigned on charges of simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment. He is free on $2,000 bail.2 p.m. Aug. 18 — Dustin J. McFadden, 19, of Slippery Rock was arrested after he allegedly broke into a garage at a home on Northside Lane in Slippery Rock Township and stole an all-terrain vehicle.McFadden was arraigned on charges of burglary, theft and resisting arrest. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $3,000 bond following arraignment.Aug. 13 — Police charged Shane A. McCommon. 31, of Butler with drugged driving stemming from a one-vehicle July crash in Center Township. He wrecked his motorcycle around 8:30 p.m. July 5 on the 800 block of Route 38.McCommon is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, DUI and disregarding traffic lanes.
Wednesday — Police obtained an arrest warrant for Bryan John Johnson, 53, of East Franklin Township, a sex offender who is accused of failing to update his personal information. Johnson is listed as a “transient offender.”His last address with police was “Tarrtown Road along the river,” according to the police Megan's Law website.He last updated his registration July 19. The website indicated that Johnson was convicted of aggravated indecent assault in 2002. He is required to register with police for the rest of his life.He is charged in the warrant with separate felony counts of failing to register with state police and failing to verify his address and be photographed in accordance with Megan's Law.
