Man sentenced to prison in 24-year-old's OD death
A man was sentenced Thursday to jail for delivering drugs last year to an Adams Township man who died of an overdose as a result.
Butler County Common Pleas Judge William Shaffer sentenced Robert D. Fugate II, 35, of Pittsburgh to one to five years in jail for felony possession with intent to deliver and a misdemeanor manslaughter charge. Fugate was charged on July 31, 2019 and he originally faced an additional felony of drug delivery resulting in death, which was dropped in the plea deal when Fugate pleaded guilty to the other charges on Aug. 3.
Michael Kramer, 24, died of an overdose on April 26, 2019, according to police.
Police investigated Kramer's room after he was unable to be revived by CPR and Narcan and found seven stamp bags bound with a rubber band featuring a picture of a submarine and the words “Hunter Killer,” according to police.
They said they found text messages between Fugate and Kramer that discussed Fugate's sale of heroin to Kramer.
“Additionally, Fugate later sent text messages to M. Kramer advising (him) to be careful, warning him of the high potency of the heroin and the quantity he should do,” the affidavit reads.
Police said Kramer died of a combined heroin and fentanyl overdose.
