The commencement ceremony for Union High School was at 7 p.m. June 3 on the high school football field.

The commencement speaker was Gloria Campbell Dunkle, a 1980 graduate of Union High School, where she was active in sports, cheerleading and musicals.

She graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, with a bachelor's degree in marketing. She went on to work for several large companies in the gift industry, traveling extensively for her various sales management positions.

McKayla Dietz, the Class of 2020 president and valedictorian, addressed the class as did the salutatorian, Madison Mueller-Howell. Seniors received their diplomas at the reserved ticketed event.

McKayla is the daughter of Terry and Melissa Deitz, of Rimersburg.

Her activities include National Honor Society, Rimersburg Lions Club Student of the Month for Physical Education for the month of January, Union High School Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen, basketball and competition cheerleading, CCYC, track and field, language club, school musicals, and a member of the Baker Street youth group.

She plans to attend Clarion University and major in early childhood education.

Madison is the daughter of Deborah Howell-Rainey and Jeff Rainey, of Rimersburg, and James and Anna Mueller, of Bridgeville.

She was president of National Honor Society, student council and bands, vice president of the Language Club, secretary of the Class of 2020 and treasurer of choirs. She was Laurel Eye Clinic 2020 Student of the month for March, Rimersburg Lions Club Student of the Month for Band for the month of April. She was a member of all available band ensembles, including regional, district, and district jazz bands and all available choir ensembles, including district choir, and a member of the Redbank Valley and Mercer Community Bands. She also participated in the Baker Street Youth Group, art club, basketball cheer and the musicals.

She plans to attend Westminster College, pursuing a degree in music education with a focus in trumpet

Class officers are: McKayla Dietz, president; Nora Mason, vice president; Madison Mueller-Howell, secretary; and Sierra Salvo, treasurer.
