The threat of thunderstorms Friday night couldn't keep some car enthusiasts away from the first Cruisin' Main event of the year.

In the upper parking lot, across from the courthouse, owners of more than 30 classic or souped-up cars and bikes decided to brave weather, roads and possible damage to their cars to show off their wheels and talk shop.

One car to arrive on the lot was a pale yellow 1967 Ford F100. The driver, J.D. Thompson of Eau Claire, is one of the founders of Cruisin' Main, which he started last year with a friend.

If there's good weather next week, however, Thompson expects an even better turnout.

Cruisin' Main meets every Friday, usually starting at 8 p.m. in the parking lot across from the courthouse.
