A Butler judge Tuesday refused to release a jailed man accused of beating his wife three times and raised his bond to $50,000.

“Given the repeated alleged acts of violence against the same victim, I don't feel comfortable releasing him,” Judge Timothy McCune said.

Leo R. Mullen, 53, is facing three separate cases involving alleged attacks on his wife. In his most recent case, police said he clubbed his wife in the head with a bottle of vodka during a domestic dispute at their home in August. The woman needed treatment at Butler Memorial Hospital for an open head wound following the alleged incident.
