Accident on Route 8 slows southbound traffic
BUTLER TWP — A three-vehicle crash Friday afternoon on Route 8 south of Butler sent two drivers to Butler Memorial Hospital.
Two Dodge Ram pickups entered the Route 8-Vogel-McClamont Road intersection with a green light when a northbound Dodge Cruiser also entered, according to police.
Butler Township firefighters said the woman who drove the Cruiser was transported to the hospital with apparent minor injuries.
One of the trucks was going east across Route 8 from McClamont to Vogel Road, according to police.
Police said the driver of this truck was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, but his 5-year-old passenger was uninjured and was picked up from the scene.
Police said the other truck was turning right from Vogel Road onto Route 8 north. The vehicle was driven from the scene and the driver was not injured.
Two of the vehicles were towed from the scene. Route 8 north was unaffected, but southbound traffic was slowed for about an hour.
The South Butler Volunteer Fire Department assisted township firefighters. Butler Ambulance transported the injured.
The intersection is at the border of Penn and Butler townships, between Sheetz and Mike Kelly Automotive Group.
