Mars grad to perform in Macy's parade

Mars graduate Sarah Weis will perform with a jump rope team at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Sarah Weis, a 2021 Mars Area High School graduate, will perform in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday in New York City.

Weis is a member of HT High Flyers jump rope team, which will perform as part of the national J.U.M.P. (Jumpers United for Macy's Parade) group.

The group will jump continuously along the parade's 2.8-mile route before being featured live on NBC for one minute when they perform a routine in Herald Square, said a news release from Mars Area School District.

The routine will showcase the team as they perform a complex interconnected double Dutch matrix, flanked by a single-rope routine.

The group of male and female jumpers ages 12 to 26 also will perform choreographed jump rope gymnastics and dance routines.

Weis, who is a freshman accounting and criminology student at Kent State University, is a former member of the Mars Stars Jump Rope Team at Mars.

The appearance of J.U.M.P. in the parade was coordinated by Heartbeats Jump Rope Team of Cleveland.
