ADAMS TWP — One person was taken to a hospital after striking a tree with their vehicle Sunday evening.

The accident occurred just after 6:30 p.m. Sunday at 362 Mars Valencia Road in Adams Township, according to Adams Township police Officer Chris Kopas.

The vehicle, a Honda, struck a tree in the area, Kopas said. The driver was the only occupant, he said, and needed to be extricated from the vehicle.

The name of the driver was not available late Sunday.

Mars Valencia Road was closed for about 30 minutes while crews worked to clear the scene.

It is unknown why the driver struck the tree, Kopas said, adding the driver was transported to a hospital with unknown injuries.

The investigation is ongoing, Kopas said.

Adams Township police were assisted by Adams Area Fire District and Callery Volunteer Fire Department.
