Marcellus Shale info meeting slated Thursday
NEW CASTLE — The Penn State Cooperative Extension will present "Marcellus Shale: Natural Gas and You" at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Lawrence County Community Action Partnership Building (formerly the Ben Franklin Jr. High School adjacent to Taggart Stadium), 815 Cunningham Ave.
The meeting will last about two hours, and Penn State Cooperative Extension educators and an oil and gas attorney will speak on natural gas exploration and production, water use and protection, and oil and gas leases. A limited time for audience questions will follow.
This meeting is intended to educate landowners, public officials, and others about natural gas development in the region and the leasing of oil and gas rights. This program is for educational purposes only and is not intended to provide legal advice.
The cost of the workshop is $15 per person, payable at the door. Pre-registration to ensure adequate seating and materials is requested by calling the Lawrence County Cooperative Extension Office at 724-654-8370.
