Local Free and Accepted Masons of Pennsylvania in Butler and Zelienople recently installed officers for 2014 who will begin their one-year terms on Saint John's Day, Dec. 27.

Victory Lodge 694 is one of Butler's three Masonic lodges. Michael Rogers of Portersville, lodge master, announced new officers are Jim Darabant of Butler, worshipful master; David McLaughlin, of Butler, senior warden; Dean Wandell, of Butler, junior warden; Michael Rogers, of Portersville, treasurer; James Korn, of Butler, secretary; and Jeffery Lang of West Sunbury, chaplain.

Alan Duncan of Zelienople, master of Harmony Lodge 429, said Frank Morgan of Harmony will serve as worshipful master; Timothy Evans of Cranberry Township, senior warden; Bruce Earhart of Wampum, junior deacon; Donald Biertempfel of Harmony, treasurer; David Foreman of Zelienople, secretary; and Thomas Ayers of Harmony, chaplain.

Duncan said that the title worshipful master is old English meaning respected sir. The worshipful master is the lodge president. The senior and junior wardens act as senior and junior vice presidents, respectively.

There are nearly 1,800 Masons in Butler County.
