PITTSBURGH — A jury will be picked in Dauphin County and bused to Pittsburgh in September to try a University of Pittsburgh medical researcher accused of killing his neurologist wife with cyanide.

Allegheny Judge Jeffrey A. Manning agreed with defense attorneys that local jurors know too much about the case involving 65-year-old Dr. Robert Ferrante and his dead wife, 41-year-old Dr. Autumn Klein. Ferrante still denies lacing his wife's energy drink with poison before she collapsed in April 2013, dying three days later. State Supreme Court Justice Ronald Castille ruled Friday that jurors would be picked from Dauphin, which includes the state capital of Harrisburg.

DUQUESNE — The mother of a pregnant 15-year-old girl says her daughter is expected to survive a shooting that killed her unborn son.Police say 15-year-old DaRae Delgado was shot early Monday by someone who knocked on the family's door in Duquesne, then opened fire after covering the peephole with their hand. Allegheny County police have yet to identify or arrest suspects.The girl's son, who she had carried about seven months, died.

NORRISTOWN — A suburban Philadelphia county that had been legally prevented from issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples can now do so.A Montgomery County spokesman said he expected officials to begin granting licenses today in Norristown.Counties throughout state have been issuing the licenses since a federal judge legalized gay marriage in Pennsylvania last week. But Montgomery County couldn't grant any because of a stop order in a pending lawsuit.Last year, the county issued licenses to 174 same-sex couples before gay marriage was legal in Pennsylvania. A court ordered the rogue county to stop.

PITTSBURGH — The Roman Catholic Diocese of Greensburg has joined dioceses based in Erie and Pittsburgh in suing over birth control mandates under the new federal health care overhaul law.The Greensburg diocese, its Catholic Charities arm and one of its schools, St. John the Baptist Regional in Uniontown, are seeking a court order similar to that already won by the other dioceses. Those injunctions have exempted the other dioceses from requirements that contraception, including sterilization and some after-the-fact birth control drugs, be offered in employee health care plans.The Greensburg diocese sued after the federal Department of Health and Human Services and other agencies refused to include the Greensburg plaintiffs under a voluntary extension of the injunction won by the other dioceses.
