Co-op exhibits pieces by Red Brick artists

SAXONBURG — The gallery sponsored by the Saxonburg Area Artists Cooperative will feature a multiartist/mixed media exhibit of the work of Red Brick Gallery artists starting Friday.

A reception featuring the artists will then be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the gallery at 215 rear, W. Main St.

The exhibit will feature photography, paintings, fiber arts and ceramics.

The Red Brick Gallery is an artist cooperative sponsored by the Allegheny RiverStone Center for the Arts (ARCA) in Foxburg. The Saxonburg Area Artists Cooperative (SAAC) is striving to establish a series of exchange exhibits with other art cooperatives throughout the country.

In the summer of 2013, the Red Brick Gallery invited Saxonburg cooperative artists for a guest exhibition of their works. SAAC reciprocated the invitation and a number of the Red Brick artists will be participating in this traveling show.

The “Multi-Artist / Mixed Media Show” will offer works by photographers Raymond Rossi and Daniel Stainer; painters Donna Edmonds, Jason Floyd Lewis and Angela Hardwick; tapestry artist Rhoda Taylor; hand weaver Blanche Hall and potter Paul O'Neal.

ARCA established the Red Brick Artist Cooperative in 2011 to provide area artists a suitable venue for the display and viewing of their works and a consignment sales outlet for the members. The Red Brick Gallery is in a historic 135-year-old building that was once the business office of the Fox family from Philadelphia and the namesake of the Foxburg village. The Saxonburg exhibit will continue through June 7. Hours are noon to 8 p.m. Fridays and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays.Call 412-260-5779 for information.
