2 hurt in car, truck collision
BUFFALO TWP — Volunteer firefighters this morning cut off a car roof to free a teenage driver following his vehicle’s collision with a tractor-trailer along Route 356.
According to township police, a Ford Taurus driven by Derek Warren, 19, of Sarver was pulling out of the parking lot of Schrec’s Health Club when it collided with a northbound Wayne W. Sell truck about 11 a.m.
The teenager and his mother, Wanda Warren, 55, also of Sarver, were taken by Freeport EMS to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment.
The truck driver, Robert Haag, 35, of Edinburg in Lawrence County was not injured.
Police report the front of the truck hit the driver’s side of the car, trapping the driver inside.
Health club owner Lance Schreckengost, who didn’t witness the accident, said the driver was conscious and the driver’s mother seemed OK.
Both are in good condition at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.
The flat bed truck wasn’t carrying a load.
Police report Haag tried to stop after seeing the car pull onto the road, leaving skid marks.
