HARRISBURG — Six local VFW leaders were honored recently for achieving “All-State Status” by the Department of Pennsylvania Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States.

The following individuals were recognized:

Commander Leslie E. Harvey and Quartermaster Dean A. Snyder of Butler Post 249

Commander Damian S. Hambley and Quartermaster Larry A. Pifer Sr. of Slippery Rock Post 6231

Commander John E. Fetzer and Quartermaster Robert M. Carrara of Mars Post 7505.

They are among a select group of Pennsylvania VFW post commanders and quartermasters who led their posts to accomplishing a long list of service-oriented goals — and surpassing a 100 percent membership retention/recruitment goal — that are required to earn All-State honors.

Less than 15 percent of Pennsylvania's 460 Posts were honored during the Department of VFW's recent state convention for earning the title as All-State Posts.

———WASHINGTON, D.C. — John Paserba of Cranberry Township was honored with IEEE-USA's Jim Watson Professional Awareness Achievement Award. Paserba received the award for advancing student professional awareness activities.Paserba is the general manager of the gas circuit breaker division of Mitsubishi Electric Power Products in Warrendale.He is an elected fellow of IEEE-USA and has been a leader for student activities since 2002.IEEE-USA promotes the careers and public policy interests of engineering, computing and technology professionals.
