Alleged jailhouse call lands inmate in more trouble

A Butler County Prison inmate is accused of threatening the life of an ex-girlfriend while on a jailhouse telephone call.

Deandre T. Moore, 39, a multiple felon, is facing a hearing in March in connection with the latest incident. County detectives charged him last week with a misdemeanor count of terroristic threats.

Detectives said they began their investigation Jan. 14 after a victim's outreach attorney advised them of Moore's alleged threat. The attorney represented the victim, a former girlfriend of Moore's, in seeking a protection-from-abuse (PFA) order against him.

The 33-year-old victim, of Butler, reported that the defendant made the threat by way of a phone call earlier that month from the county prison. Authorities said Moore was booked into the prison Dec. 14 for a probation violation.Moore has a criminal history, court records showed, that includes felony convictions in Philadelphia for robbery and aggravated assault. He also has a pending case in Butler County court for felony drug possession in a 2018 case.Detectives eventually listened to the recorded Jan. 1 call that Moore allegedly placed from the prison to the victim. All outgoing calls made from the prison are recorded, except those to inmates' attorneys, according to prison policy. Inmates are alerted that their calls are being recorded.“In the phone call,” charging documents said, “both parties are heard arguing over him being incarcerated and the lack of previous phone calls. The victim was unhappy that inmate Moore had not called her during the holidays and on her birthday.”While on the call, investigators said, she told him he no longer was welcome at her home and advised him to stop calling her.“The victim also admitted to inmate Moore that she has a new boyfriend,” documents said, “and that she is moving on with her life.”The defendant allegedly became angry, telling the victim that when he gets out of prison, “I'm going to come and blow your (expletive) head off, man!”He is accused of threatening her a second time.Following the suspected threat, the victim showed up Jan. 5 at the county's domestic relations office to seek the PFA against Moore.District Judge William Fullerton arraigned Moore on Friday on the terroristic threat charge. He set bond at $20,000. Online court records did not indicate if Moore has an attorney.
