S. Butler library fund drive receives PennEnergy match

SAXONBURG — While the South Butler Community Library, 240 W. Main St., hosts its fund drive every November through January, there was one notable difference last year — a match from PennEnergy Resources LLC.

Donations made during this time were matched by the local energy company, up to $10,000. This matching donation sets the library up for even greater success in a year filled with challenges and uncertainty due to COVID-19.

“Once community members heard about PennEnergy’s match, we had even more donations coming in to help us meet our goal,” said Library Director Michelle Lesniak. “Our priority during this time has been to keep our patrons safe and maintain continuity of services and the amazing response to our fund drive will allow us to do that.”

PennEnergy Stakeholder Relations Manager Amanda Peterson personally presented the library with a $10,000 check. Board members Ramona Baker and Kristan Allen accepted it on behalf of the Library board of trustees.

Although the building is closed to visitors, there are still plenty of fun activities that, Lesniak said, would not be possible without the support of the community and organizations such as PennEnergy. For example, starting in February, patrons can choose a wrapped book for a “Blind Date with a Book” complete with a “Rate the Date” card.

Kid-focused “Play Date with a Book” mystery books are also available.

For more details and other upcoming activities, call the library at 724-352-4810 or visit the library’s Facebook page or website, www.SouthButlerLibrary.org.
