Adams couple honored for their volunteer work
Adams Township supervisors honored longtime Adams residents and volunteers George and Aileen Cudoc at a meeting Monday night.
The Cudocs have picked up trash along roads in the township on their daily walks for more than 40 years.
George Cudoc said he and Aileen walk and pick up trash across 1,700 miles each year.
“We wave to everybody with the hopes that the people who are inconsiderate enough to throw out trash might think of a friendly neighbor and not throw out trash,” he said.
Linda Lees wanted to honor the couple as one of her last actions as a township supervisor. Monday was her last meeting before retiring from the position.
“They are wonderful, wonderful people, and they're my neighbors, too,” Lees said. “I wanted to do something special.”
Township manager Gary Peaco presented Lees with a certificate from the Pennsylvania Association of Township Supervisors honoring her 33 years as a supervisor.
Santa Caravan to return
Adams Parks and Recreation Director Haley Geyer said the Santa Caravan will return this weekend.
Santa will be on the move in Adams Township from 4 p.m. until dark Friday and from 11:30 a.m. until 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday with the help of Adams Area Fire District, Callery Volunteer Fire Company and Adams Township Police.
Splash pad
Township supervisors also approved the purchase of a splash pad that will be installed in the Adams Township Community Park in 2022.
Geyer said the township has applied for a Department of Conservation and Natural Resources grant, but has not heard back yet from the state. In order to lock in 2021 pricing for the equipment, installation and shipping, she brought the item before the council.
The cost of the splash pad totals $690,732, and a 50% deposit will be paid Tuesday.
