Rock sweeps twin bill
Slippery Rock High School graduate Jason Curry hit two home runs and drove in three as the Slippery Rock University baseball team swept Salem International (W.Va.) in a doubleheader 7-3 and 6-5 at Jack Critchfield Park Thursday afternoon.
Curry's two-homer game came in the opener as The Rock took advantage of seven walks to score seven runs on just five hits.
Joe Pascarella and Matt Kozusko drove in two runs apiece for Slippery Rock in the first game.
It took The Rock (13-8) a little longer to put away Salem International (9-14-1) in the second game.
Marzullo drove in two runs and Seneca Valley graduate Nate Statzer went 2-for-5 and stole three bases as The Rock won 6-5 in 11 innings.
Catcher Joe Pascarella drove in Phil Butch, who led off the bottom of the 11th with a triple, for the winning run.
Colin Scott got the win in relief, giving up two runs and four hits in six innings of work.
The Rock will open the conference season at 1 p.m. today when it hosts Clarion University.
