Rock baseball takes pair from Gannon
Scott Bender went 6-for-7 with three doubles, a triple, four RBI and a pair of stolen bases in the Slippery Rock University baseball team's doubleheader sweep of Gannon University on Tuesday.
The Rock won the games by scores of 10-9 and 10-2.
Bender, a right fielder, was 3-for-3 in the first game with three runs batted in.
Grove City High graduate Bill Herman added a double in the The Rock's Game 1 victory, which saw Mars product Josh Rape pick up the victory in relief and Slippery Rock High grad Mike DeCola earn the save.
Karns City graduate Josh Smith hit a solo home run in Game 2, while Slippery Rock's Bill Messer tallied an RBI single.
Travis Trimbur, another KC product, had an RBI single.
