8:08 p.m. Monday — A motorcyclist suffered a broken nose in a two-vehicle wreck at New Castle and Alameda roads. The crash occurred when a sport utility vehicle driven by Reid Bright, 79, of Butler turned in front of a motorcycle driven by Keith R. Pack, 42, of Butler. Bright was not injured.Police cited Bright for making an improper left turn, and Pack was cited for driving with a suspended license.Sept. 10 — Police charged Bette A. Cook, 56, of Butler with illegally attempting to buy a firearm at the Butler Commons' Walmart earlier this year. She is accused of providing false information on a required background check form April 3 when she tried to buy the gun.Cook is charged with unlawfully attempting to buy a firearm, a felony, and unsworn falsification to authorities, a misdemeanor.8:45 p.m. Sept. 9 — Kurstly E. Dufresne, 25, of Butler was arrested after she allegedly was found with suspected marijuana and other drug contraband following a traffic stop in the area of the Target store at Butler Commons. Police said they also learned that she was wanted on a warrant out of Philadelphia.Dufresne was arraigned on charges of possession of a small amount or marijuana and drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license and driving an unregistered vehicle. She was placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bond following arraignment.Sept. 7 — Victoria M. Baptiste, 33, of Butler was arraigned on a felony drug charge in connection with an investigation of reported drug activity in July at a home on Deshon Court.During the investigation, police came upon a car parked in front of the home around 5:40 p.m. July 2. Baptiste was identified as the driver and David L. Weichey Jr., 37, of Lyndora, her boyfriend, as the front seat passenger. Leaning into the car, according to court documents, was Brent D. Kennard, 31, of Clay Township.Police suspected a hand-to-hand drug deal, documents said, and they eventually found Weichey and Kennard both with dozens of stamp bags each of suspected heroin. A search of the car turned up 42 more bags.Both men were arrested that night on felony and misdemeanor drug possession charges. Police subsequently charged Baptiste with conspiracy to possess with the intent to deliver a controlled substance. She is free on $5,000 bail.

1:40 p.m. Saturday — An unknown thief stole a Trump campaign sign from the edge of a driveway at a home on Reibold Road in Forward Township. The sign is valued at $15. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.Friday — Branden M. Spare, 29, of Summit Township was charged with drugged driving stemming from a traffic stop last month in Butler. Police stopped him shortly after 8:50 p.m. Aug. 11 on North Washington Street near West Penn Street.A search of his pickup truck, according to court documents, turned up a plastic container with suspected marijuana as well as a glass smoking pipe. Spare was eventually taken to Butler Memorial for a blood test, which allegedly showed he had marijuana in his system.He is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, failing to keep right, disregarding traffic lanes, a stop sign violation, careless driving and not wearing a seat belt.11:52 p.m. Sept. 10 — A 15-year-old West Sunbury boy was caught after he allegedly fled police while driving an apparently stolen pickup truck on Route 8 in Center Township. Authorities did not identify the boy, who drove south on Route 8 into Butler where the truck's drive shaft became dislodged.The teen took off on foot, according to a police report, but he was apprehended a short time later. Police said he admitted taking the truck earlier in the evening. He is charged in Butler County juvenile court with fleeing or attempting to elude police and theft of a vehicle.Butler City and Butler Township police departments assisted in the incident.Sept. 10 — Layne L. Marburger, 51, of Slippery Rock Township was charged with DUI in connection with a traffic incident last month on Sunset Drive near Route 8 in Center Township. Police said they saw him around 1:40 a.m. Aug. 30 pull over in a pickup and activate his emergency four-way lights.He was subsequently taken to the barracks for a breath test, which indicated his blood-alcohol level was 0.098 percent, according to court documents. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.Sept. 2 — Brian L. Hilderbrand, 52, of Fenelton was charged with DUI stemming from a traffic stop last month in Clearfield Township. Police said he was stopped Aug. 29 on Route 422.A breath test later determined that his blood-alcohol level was 0.130 percent, court documents said. Hilderbrand is charged with DUI, failing to keep right, disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.
