SRU baseball wins 7-5, falls 20-0 in doubleheader
Slippery Rock University designated hitter Ben Bechtol collected three of his team’s seven hits as The Rock used a four-run first inning in defeating visiting Gannon 7-5 in the first game of a doubleheader Sunday.
Lou Trivino picked up the win after allowing four runs (one earned) in 4 1/3 innings of work.
Reliever Ryan Oglesby pitched the last 22/3 innings, giving up just one unearned run.
In the second game, The Rock (8-12-1, 2-2) was out-hit 17-5 in dropping a 20-0 decision to Gannon, the program’s most lopsided defeat since 1982.
SRU used six pitchers in the defeat, with the loss going to starter Anthony Naso, who allowed four runs (three earned) on three hits in his one inning on the mound.
