SRU sweeps Clarion
SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock University baseball team gained sole possession of third place in the PSAC West Saturday by sweeping a doubleheader from Clarion at Critchfield Park.
The Rock (18-7, 5-3) won by scores of 5-1 and 5-0.
Sophomore left-hander Anton Constantino tossed a two-hitter in the first game. Freshman right-hander Jon Anderson flipped a two-hit shutout in the nightcap.
Clarion slipped to 1-17 overall, 1-7 in PSAC West play.
Kevin Jovanovich and Will Kengor had three hits each for SRU in the first game. Jordan Faretta and Graeme Zaparzynski added two hits each.
Jovanovich hit his first homer of the season in the second game and Austin Benshadle contributed three hits and two runs scored.
The Rock was scheduled to host West Liberty (W.Va.) in a non-conference doubleheader today at Critchfield Park.
