SRU splits twinbill with West Liberty

Junior Mike Dunn gave up just one hit in six innings of work and his teammates gave him plenty of support as the Slippery Rock University baseball team salvaged a doubleheader split against West Liberty with a 12-0 win at Critchfield Park Monday afternoon.

The Rock (19-8) dropped the first game 6-3.

Dunn struck out four and walked just one in the gem.

Anthony Naso pitched the final inning to preserve the shutout.

Kevin Jovanovich went 3-for-4 at the plate for The Rock in the win.

In the first game, SRU managed just one hit through the first five innings before scoring three runs on five hits in the final two frames.

John Kovalik, used primarily as The Rock’s closer this season, got the start in the first game and allowed six runs, five earned, on nine hits. He struck out seven and walked two in five innings.
