Flowers were found sitting outside Butler's B'nai Abraham synagogue on Sunday. The flowers were sent by an anonymous member of a Lutheran church in Butler.

In the wake of the fatal shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, various religious leaders in Butler are planning an interfaith service and vigil at 7 p.m. Thursday at Butler B'nai Abraham synagogue in Butler at 519 North Main Street.

As members of Butler's congregation mourn the dead, some are heartened by an anonymous bundle of daisies that arrived Sunday. The building's caretaker, Ben Vincent, found the flowers.

“When I first saw it, I started to weep,” Vincent said. “It just proved to me that there is still goodness left in the world. That gift was so important to see in this moment.”

Community members attending Thursday's service have been asked to park in these designated areas:

— The parking lot of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

— The Armstrong Customer Service Center lots.

— Parking spaces along North Main Street.

— The municipal lot at Main and Penn streets.

The city's religious leaders will join Cantor Michal Gray Schaffer and Congregation B'nai Abraham at 7 p.m. for a service of unity and mourning for the 11 people killed Saturday in an attack on the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh.
